Stir fried rice or 炒饭(chao fan) is a staple dish in most Chinese households. It's very simple and easy to make, and perfect for when you have leftover rice or other ingredients. It's an easy lunch during a busy week.
-My mom. This specific recipe is to make egg stir fried rice but there are so many different combinations you can make to create a whole new dish. I'll list of couple down below.
Prep Time: 5-10 minutes (changes based on ingredients)
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Serving Size: 4
Meat | 1 cup of any cooked ground meat(beef, pork, chicken, etc) Cook with soy sauce and 1 tsp 5-Spice powder on high heat. |
Spice | 1 cup chopped kimchi or 1 tsp chili powder. After taking frozen corn and peas out, add the kimchi and stir fry for a little on medium heat. Take out and set aside, and continue with original recipe. |
Seafood | Thaw 1 cup of frozen shrimp in the fridge overnight. Sear shrimp in pan on high heat for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove immedietly and set aside. Add back in with rice. |
When cooking a new thing make sure to add new oil to pan to prevent it from drying out and sticking. Stir fried rice is a versatile dish and you can throw in almost any vegetable, protein or spices you have lying around in your kitchen.
